How much money do you spend on:

  • Having your reel edited?
  • Having someone build you a website?
  • Having someone create business cards, postcards, and headshots?

Did you know that you can do this and SO much more to promote yourself as an actor, and the good news is - you can do it all yourself?!! Hiring someone to do any one of these things for you can cost more than this two-day workshop!

Versions of this class have been taught at The Apple Store at The Grove, The Beverly Hills Playhouse, The Richard Lawson Studios, and Scott Sedita Acting Studios, but never with this amazing guest lineup! These industry professionals are coming with invaluable information for actors in this digital age, plus special offers and discounts exclusively for you.

It is my goal to make this weekend informative and FUN!

Here’s what we’ll cover:

SATURDAY, JULY 18:

Introduction by feature film director, Eyad Zahra

Promotion
Learn how to design business cards, postcards, and email-able headshots and resumes for agents, casting directors, showcases, TV appearances, etc. How to keep info handy for auditions and more! Also – innovative ways to get your image out there using customized promo products. We’ll also develop graphics that support the branding of you as an actor. Thanks to GotPrint.com, all workshop students will be given a discount on ANY print job off their already super-low prices!

Movie Editing
How to use your Mac and/or PC to edit your reel - importing video, editing effectively, adding titles, using effects responsibly … all with the software that came FREE with your computer!

Publishing the Whole Package
Getting the reel to DVD, mail blasts for your showcases and appearances, and how to bring your staff (managers, agents, publicists, etc) into the act. We’ll talk about creating an entire promotional kit you can use to promote yourself. Sunday we'll bring in speakers who bring together what we’ve covered so far so you can see it as a whole.

SUNDAY, JULY 19:

11 am - Web Design
Ian Schray from Softpress will be teaching a tutorial on Freeway, very easy to use web design software that allows people who are more artist than computer tech to create websites that show them off best.

Freeway is the easiest, most cost-effective way to get yourself on the web without making sacrifices in quality. Show off your headshots, demo reel and credits without having to mess around with complicated HTML code. Create exactly what you want in a clean, comfortable interface and Freeway will generate all of the code for you. And since Freeway only makes standards-compliant websites, you never have to worry about a casting agent missing out on seeing your work.Come learn more about how Freeway can help you get on the web and get noticed!

Blair Hickey and Brian Wold, the founders of CastingAbout.com will demonstrate the most effective ways of using this online casting and production guide to not only create custom mailings, but -- more importantly -- to create and build real, working long-term relationships with casting directors by researching and tracking their careers.

ActorsAccess/Breakdown Services/Showfax
Gary Marsh, the founder and President of Breakdown Services (including ActorsAccess, CastingAbout, ExtrasAccess, Showfax and more) will take attendees on a behind-the-scenes tour of ActorsAccess, demonstrating the most effect way to submit yourself for projects, how to maximize your visibility by using tools often overlooked by actors, and what submissions look like from the Casting Directors log-in screen (and why some work better than others).
